The European MooringSense project has successfully reached its halfway point. The consortium is moving ahead with determination in implementing the established work plan and meeting the planned milestones.
In view of this progress, the partners held a second meeting with the Advisory Board. The Advisory Board comprises various recognised companies in the offshore wind sector whose primary mission is to advise the consortium to ensure the future exploitation of the project’s results.
Dragados Offshore, Siemens Gamesa, National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL), DNV GL and Film Ocean are the five entities that make up this body and to which the MooringSense member organisations have shared the information generated from the project, the reports and the results achieved to date for each work package. Based on the feedback from the Advisory Board, possible actions will be identified to keep the research results in line with market needs and move the project forward with the same determination towards the next milestones.
MooringSense’s mission is to reduce the maintenance costs of offshore wind turbines by up to 15% and optimise the current performance of offshore wind energy in order to increase energy production by 2 to 3 %. These objectives will be achieved by developing and applying various technological solutions in monitoring and control, supported by the Digital Twins.
The consortium members have also shared their progress in recent weeks through MooringSense’s social media channels. In a one-minute audiovisual format, each partner summarised the development of the work package they are leading and the following steps to achieve the objectives.
